I'VE MOSTLY WATCHED

I’ve mostly watched but sometimes spoken
Mostly quit but sometimes tried
To eat the earth and drink the ocean
And share the water from my eyes

I’ve sometimes fought but mostly hidden
In between the songs and lines
That sow the seeds of fruits forbidden
And dream of juice when dreams get dry

I’ve mostly tripped but sometimes chosen
Stumbled low and stumbled high
When the sign posts on the paths have spoken
They’ve all said how and none said why

I’ve sometimes raced but mostly rambled
Fell entangled, came untied
And bathed in both the breeze and brambles
Kissed the dog and kicked the bride

I’ve mostly watched but sometimes spoken
Mostly quit but sometimes tried
